Sept. Motorcycle Production Down 0.7%

The September statistics regarding September Motorcycle production, sales and exports was released Friday by the Japan Automobile Manufacture’s Association (JAMA).

JAMA reports that motorcycle production was down 0.7 percent from the same month in 2010; 57,480 motorcycles were produced, compared to 57,908 in the same period last year.

September 2011 Motorcycle Production Figures by Class

  • 50cc or under: 9,331 units, up 921 units or 11.0%
  • 51 – 125cc: 10,640 units, up 1,534 units or 16.8%
  • 126 – 250cc: 11,354 units, down 1,516 units or 11.8%
  • Over 250cc: 26,155 units, down 1,367 units or 5.0%

In September, JAMA reports that Domestic sales (factory shipment) for September was 39,005 motorcycles, an increase of 1.3% as compared with the same month of the previous year.

September 2011 Motorcycle Domestic Sales Figures by Class

  • 50cc or under 26,001 units, up 12.3%
  • 51 – 125cc: 7,748 units, down 24.9%
  • 126 – 250cc: 3,554 units, up 21.8%
  • Over 250cc: 1,702 units, down 19.7%

Exports (result) stood at 104 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year.
