World of BMW reports that the hugely popular Brecon Beacons Adventure trip in the UK will take place Sept. 19-20, 2011. The two trips originally planned for the year sold out, prompting BMW Off Road Skills to add a third to the calendar.

BMW Off Road Skills is based in the stunning Brecon Beacons. Their team of expert instructors, led by Dakar legend Simon Pavey, run a variety of courses which teach the skills and techniques required to ride off-road in the fantastic 4,000-acre Walters Arena in Wales.

The Brecon Beacons Adventure trip is the perfect counterpoint to the arena-based Levels One to Three. This two-day tour is probably the simplest you could ever go on. Forget preparing a bike, planning routes and arranging accommodation – all that’s required is a motorcycle licence and an overnight bag.

The Brecon Beacons Adventure is suitable for riders who have completed BMW Off Road Skills Level One. For riders who haven’t yet done so, this is an ideal opportunity to enjoy a longer stay in the Brecons as there is a Level One course on the 16-17 September, followed by a day’s break ahead of the Brecon Beacons Adventure on 19-20 September. This is a great chance for riders to brush up on or develop new off-road riding skills before putting them into practice on this exciting two-day riding tour around the best tracks and trails of South Wales.

Starting at BMW Off Road Skills HQ, riders saddle up on their choice of brand-new 2011 BMW adventure bikes – from the single cylinder G 650 GS to the legendary R 1200 GS – before heading north into the beautiful Brecon Beacons for a non-stop adventure. The tour route includes scenic, twisty single-lane roads, gravel fire tracks, Byways Open to All Traffic and, of course, muddy lanes! Riders also get to experience beautiful moorlands and navigate through lush forests. The overnight stay in a welcoming guest house in Radnorshire marks the half-way point.

After a hearty meal and a good night’s sleep, riders take an entirely different, but equally characterful, route back south through the awe-inspiring Black Mountains and onwards to BMW Off Road Skills HQ.

Simon Pavey (Chief Instructor at BMW Off Road Skills) says: “It’s great to be able to offer customers an additional chance to experience and enjoy the best parts of the Brecon Beacons, especially after our original dates sold out.

“We’re known best for our training and teaching courses but we also offer a range of adventures for riders with a little experience under their belts who want to try something new. And the Brecon Beacons Adventure is the ideal introduction.”

The Brecon Beacons Adventure costs £499 which includes motorcycle hire, insurance, one night’s accommodation, meals and refreshments, fuel and use of the support vehicle. Riders must be 21 years old or more, hold a full UK or international motorcycle licence and have completed the BMW Off Road Skills Level One course, or be able to demonstrate a similar level of off-road competence.
