AMA Women & Motorcycling Conference | Day 6

Day 6 – Seminars and Two-Step

This morning started out with early morning seminars and programs. Attendees got to choose from 13 different seminars presented by women including topics such as: "Making Your Bike Fit You;" "Dual Sport Riding:" "Dealership Interaction;" "Street Strategies" and more. Carla King, Alice Sexton and I conducted a panel presentation on "Solo Riding" offering stories and insights for progressing from short to long solo motorcycle trips, learning basic mechanics, packing guidelines, safety tips and the power of intuition. We got great feedback from both male and female audience members and even learned some solo riding ideas from them.

Back at the lodge, the poor Tuono was begging for a ride. So I took off for quick mid-day jaunt. Warm weather and familiarity with the road made for an awesome spirited re-ride up the pass. I just can’t get enough of this Sound of Music scenery surrounding me as I ride.

Tonight we traded riding gear for jeans, boots, and cowgirl hats to attend the conference Barn Dance. Neighing horses greeted us as we stepped off the bus for a taste of an American hoedown complete with western BBQ, live DJ spinning country music, a horseshoe toss, line dancing lessons and a bonfire. Now that the altitude fatigue has worn off, these boot-scootin’ motorcycle ladies kicked up a rowdy good time.
