2011 MotoGP Qatar Test Results
By the midway point of the second session in Qatar Monday evening, Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa was the only MotoGP rider to post under the 1:56 mark.
But Pedrosa, who was fastest during the first night of MotoGP pre-season testing at Qatar, was soon surpassed by his teammate Casey Stoner.
2011 MotoGP Livery
The San Carlo Honda Gresini MotoGP team unveiled its 2011 livery at the Monza Circuit in Italy Wednesday.
Besides team riders Marco Simoncelli and Hiroship Aoyama, San Carlo President Alberto Vitaloni and MotoGP Team Manager Fausto Gresini presided at the event.
Marco Simoncelli entered the MotoGP class with high expectations. In 2008 he won the 250cc GP World Champion title and in 2009 he battled closely for but just missed out on recapturing the full glory before stepping-up to the premier GP class.
When the first official test of the 2011 MotoGP Championship finished at Sepang on Feb. 4, San Carlo Gresini Honda rider Hiroshi Aoyama managed a seventh overall.
The test results gave the Japanese MotoGP rider much confidence, and Aoyama thinks him, his team and the RC212V are capable of top-five finishes in 2011.
For the third and final day of MotoGP testing at Sepang, a Honda once again topped the timesheets. But on Thursday, the quickest prototype wasn’t a Repsol Honda, but rather the San Carlo Honda Gresini RC212V piloted by sophomore-rider Marco Simoncelli.
A new season of MotoGP began in Malaysia today. All the bikes and riders set to take part in the 2010 MotoGP World Championship went out on track at the Sepang circuit for the first day of testing before the season opener in Qatar on April 11th.
Team San Carlo Honda Gresini riders Marco Melandri and Marco Simoncelli made the first laps with their new Honda RC212V machines. For the duo it was a first and crucial contact with a completely new bike, which is strikingly different to the RC212V of 2009.
