    Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines rode a Harley-Davidson V-Rod to his third NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle event win of the season, and his 18th career win, at the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Hines won in the final round of eliminations when Buell rider Hector Arana fouled at the starting line.

    Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Eddie Krawiec, who came to Las Vegas in second place and 28 points behind Arana in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Countdown to the Championship, lost to the series points leader in the semi-final round.

    Red Bull/KTM Factory rider Taddy Blazusiak earned his fourth win of the season and the championship title when he crossed the checkers first at the 5th round of the EnduroCross Series in Denver, CO. Blazusiak’s day started well when he earned the fastest lap time during the afternoon qualifying session putting him in the number one spot heading to the night show. "I thought everyone was riding well during practice and was happy to come out with the fastest practice time," commented Blazusiak.

    2010 AMA Arenacross gets new format

    A new format to determine the country’s top amateur Arenacross champions is just one of the enhancements planned for the 2010 AMA Racing Amateur National Arenacross Championships. The series will crown AMA Racing amateur champions in a number of age-, skill- and displacement-based classes at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on May 9.

    "We’re excited about the developments in Arenacross for 2010," said AMA Director of Racing Joe Bromley.

    Jay Leno sold his Star VMAX motorcycle in Las Vegas on Saturday, October 10, 2009 for $120,000.00 USD at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction.

    Jay Leno’s auction proceeds, from the famed auctioneers, will go to Bailey’s Café. Bailey’s Cafe is a center for educational and cultural activity.

    "Bailey’s Café is an arts program," says Jay, "but since I didn’t have any Yamaha musical instruments to auction off, I thought I’d sell my Star VMAX, which was made by Yamaha."

    Feld Motor Sports announced today that the Amateur National Arenacross Championships will undergo a variety of enhancements beginning with the 2009 race at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas October 11.

    At this year’s Amateur National Arenacross Championships, each of the respective class champions will be recognized as an official AMA National Champion and awarded the ceremonial AMA National Champion Number One Plate.

    Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Eddie Krawiec retained second place in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Countdown to the Championship, advancing to the final round of eliminations at the NHRA Mid-South Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park. Krawiec, making his 10th final-round appearance of the season aboard a Harley-Davidson V-Rod, lost to Michael Phillips on the MPR & DAM Sports Suzuki. The event was postponed until Monday due to rain on Sunday.

    With two events left in the Countdown playoffs, Krawiec is now 28 points behind Buell rider and points leader Hector Arana.

Enough so that it pushed him to win the prestigious American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Road Race Horizon Award for 2009 at the AMA Racing Road Race Grand Championships held Sept. 10-13 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

    Thornton’s performance was impressive all weekend. He won the Middleweight Superbike class, finished second in Middleweight Supersport, and took first in the 250GP class that ran as part of the U.S.
