The new Metzeler Karoo 4 Street replaces the long-running Karoo Street as the most street-oriented tire in the Karoo line for ADV and adventure-touring motorcycles. The Karoo 4 Street has a 70/30 street/dirt balance, compared to the 50/50 Karoo 4 and the 10/90 Karoo Extreme for the most dirt-dedicated adventure bike riders.
The Metzeler Karoo 4 Street is designed for adventure-touring street riders who want a tire with an off-road aesthetic, yet performs best on pavement, whether wet or dry, while still providing some functionality in the dirt. Metzeler engineers were dedicated to delivering a stable, quiet, and comfortable street ride, along with consistent wear from the Karoo 4 Street. In the dirt, this new tire performs best on gravel roads and soft-to-intermediate dirt, according to Metzeler.
There are only a few sizes for the introduction of the Metzeler Karoo 4 Street. The front is available in 120/70-19 or 90/90-21. The rear is limited to 150/70-17 and 170/60-17 sizes. Metzeler has given the tire stylish high-contrast lettering so everyone will know what tire you’re running.
The Metzeler Karoo tire line began in 2008 with the heavily dirt-leaning Karoo. It was quickly updated to the Karoo 2, which found success in the BMW GS Trophy events, despite having a more street-biased design than the original Karoo.
The Karoo 3 followed in 2012, which featured an all-new design. 2018 saw the debut of the pavement-oriented Karoo Street and a tire for dirt fanatics, the Karoo Extreme, which brought back the 10/90 street/dirt orientation of the original Karoo. This expanded the Metzler Karoo line to three flavors, each focused on different kinds of adventure riders. The Karoo 4 arrived in 2022 for fans of the 50/50 street/dirt mix, ending the Karoo 3’s 10-year run.
The new Metzeler Karoo 4 Street hits the market in early 2026. We don’t have prices available yet.
