2018 Harley-Davidson Low Rider Review | 10 Fast Facts

2018 Harley-Davidson Low Rider colors8. Braking power has improved. Four-piston calipers clamping onto a single rotor in the front, and a single rotor with a floating caliper in the rear, make up the braking hardware on the Low Rider. Brake feel is progressive and does require a decent two-fingered pull if you want to get on the binders, however, both brakes can be modulated well.

9. ABS is a $795 option on the 2018 Harley-Davidson Low Rider. We are not shy about our support of electronic aids. After all, they help us and the consumer keep the shiny (or matte) side up. Harley’s ABS package doesn’t impede the ride in the least bit or activate prematurely, especially when it comes to the front brake. Harley-Davidson’s ABS does allow the rear wheel to chirp a bit before activating. That’s when you know you should probably start backing the pace off or, better yet, smooth out all your inputs.

10. The Low Rider legacy has only gotten better. Thanks to the Softail update, the Low Rider has shed every negative quality it had in terms of performance and handling. Its handling prowess has been elevated, but for the average motorcycle rider, comfort has improved dramatically.

The subtle Low Rider has always been the foundation for countless builds, ranging from the lavish customs to the sport-bike-hunting canyon carver. The new Softail platform satisfies those urges, without coloring too far out of the Harley-Davidson lines, leaving room for enthusiasts to put their personal spin on things and allow the Low Rider to truly flourish.
