When Ducati created the Monster back in 1992, the bike quickly became an icon in the naked sportbike scene.
Throughout the years, Ducati offered many version of its Monster, from the original M600 in smaller displacement to the latest largest offering available today, the 1100EVO. Due to the pickings, the Monster became, and remains, one of Ducati’s best sellers.
Since late 2010, Ducati has offered three versions – the 696, the mid-weight 796 and the 1100EVO.
A favorite of many, including the staff at Ultimate MotorCycling, is the 796. The 803cc Desmodue is lightweight (412 lbs), shorter (31.5 inches) and provides typical Ducati performance.
Our writer Kelly Callan recently reviewed a Ducati Monster 796, and while testing the bike in some California canyons, our magazine’s editor, Don Williams, took some footage (attached above).
