Valentino Rossi News

A week following a not-so-good performance at the MotoGP season opener in Qatar (10th), Ducati Team’s Valentino Rossi was at Monza, Italy, dabbling in some four-wheel racing.

The nine-time World Champion was behind the wheel of a Kessel Racing Ferrari 458 Italia donning VR46 livery with teammate Allessio Salucci in the Pro-Am Cup GT3 class for the season opener of the Blancpain Endurance Series

The duo qualified 10th overall out of 55 drivers. During the first hour of the wet-Monza race, the duo ran inside the top 10, but fell back to 29th after the second hour. Following the final hour of the race, Rossi was able to take 18th overall, and ninth on the Pro-Am class.

As for the winners, the Marc VDS Racing BMW Z4 GT3 No.3 PRO entry of Bas Leinders (BEL), Markus Palttala (FIN) and Maxime Martin (BEL) were victorious.

Rossi returns to the 2012 MotoGP Championship for round 2 of 17 at Jerez in Spain April 27-29.
