12/31: Motorcycle Long Jump Record Attempt

Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. 2011. Motorcycle jump record teaser video

For Freestyle Motorcycle fans, one of the highlights of New Year’s Eve is the Red Bull "New Year. No Limits" jump that airs live on ESPN Dec. 31, 2011.

During this year’s Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. 2011. Robbie "Maddo" Maddison will attempt to break his long-jump record; for this year’s event, Maddison plans to launch his Yamaha YZ-F 450 in a tandem jump over California’s Dan Diego Harbor – a distance of more than 400 feet.

To put this feat into perspective, the iconic Evel Knievel’s longest jump was 133 feet after he jumped 14 Greyhound buses at King Island in Ohio back in 1975. Maddo has already jumped 351 feet, but the official Motorcycle record jump is 391 feet, set by Ryan Capes. But Maddo says he already surpassed the record in practice, so this year’s Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. 2011. may be another chapter in motorcycle jumping history.

In the video attached above, Maddison discusses what it’s going to take to break his own world record (351 feet) at this years Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. 2011.
