When Valentino Rossi crashed at Mugello on June 5 while competing with Fiat Yamaha, thousands of fans and colleagues were devastated that the nine-time World Champion would miss most of the 2010 MotoGP season.

Repsol rider Marc Marquez, current 125cc World Champion, was awarded Tuesday the National prize Princesa de Asturias S.A.R Doña Letizia.

In Tuesday’s meeting of the Sports Council, the jury granted the National Prize to the Under-18 sportsman with the most prominent sporting progress during 2010.

Nobody can throw a championship celebration on track like Valentino Rossi, and when a live chicken wearing a crash helmet and a replica of Rossi’s leather riding suit was spotted on track at the Sepang International Circuit on Oct. 25, one thing was certain… Valentino Rossi was World Champion once again.

Rossi finished third in the Grand Prix of Malaysia to clinch his seventh MotoGP World Championship and his ninth title overall. He also won world titles in 125cc and 250cc. It was Rossi’s seventh title in the premier class in the last nine seasons.

The world’s first unveiling of a completely new motocross model at the KTM exhibit booth on November 10, 2009 (Hall 18, stand M68), represents a significant step toward "defining new lines." The revealing of the new motorcycle is the next logical step for the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer as its tradition as a result based operation have led to over 160 World Championships and the development of a new motocross model.

Dovizioso won in treacherous conditions, with drizzle falling on and off throughout the 30 laps. The former 125 World Champion, who has previously ridden Hondas to 250 and 125 successes at Donington Park, exhibited enormous courage and inch-perfect riding to take a 1.3 second victory from Colin Edwards (Yamaha).

The 2009 FIM MotoGP World Championship this weekend continues a fierce run of four races in five weeks, following a brief respite, heading to Sachsenring in Germany for the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. The halfway point of the premier class season, the race could end with either one of the top three at the head of the championship standings.

Valentino Rossi stamped his authority on the opening MotoGP practice session of the weekend with the fastest time of Friday afternoon at Barcelona, lapping the track used for the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya in 1’43.038 on his Fiat Yamaha M1 -in conditions in which ambient temperatures reached 35°C and the asphalt 50°C.

Fans at Mugello were treated to a great battle in qualifying on Saturday afternoon, with Fiat Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo upstaging his teammate Valentino Rossi at the World Champion’s home track – the Spaniard taking pole and the Italian left off the front row.

In brilliant sunshine at the Gran Premio d’Italia Alice four riders fought for pole right at the death. Lorenzo eventually emerged on top, courtesy of a 1’48.987 time on the 29th of his 30 laps, beating Casey Stoner by a tight margin (0.021s).

Ducati Marlboro’s Casey Stoner starts Sunday’s fourth MotoGP race of the year in third place on the Le Mans grid, but the former World Champion felt he had the pace to beat Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo who finished marginally in front of him.

Valentino Rossi took a stunning win in Jerez today, his first of the season and the 98th of his career taking him 11 points clear at the top of the championship. His Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo had a disappointing home race, crashing out on lap 24 when closing on the final podium position.

The reigning World Champion had looked in trouble yesterday but an overnight set-up change saw him fastest in warm-up and he lined up confident that he would be able to mount a challenge.
