    AMA Vintage Grand National Championships results

    The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) reports that Shock Doctor/KTM’s Cory Buttrick took home the top off-road honors at the inaugural AMA Racing Vintage Grand Championships, which took place July 24-26 as part of AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days in Lexington, Ohio, while Paul Germain emerged as the weekend’s top track-racing competitor.

    Buttrick, from Logan, Ohio, was crowned the AMA Off-Road Vintage Grand National Champion, while Germain, from Winnipeg, Canada, earned the AMA Track Racing Vintage Grand National Championship.

    "The Kid" from Canada, 17-year-old Brett McCormick, crowned a perfect weekend with his win in the Circuit ICAR, Parts Canada Superbike Championship race, after setting the fastest times in Friday and Saturday practices, earning pole position, setting the race’s fast lap, and leading the most laps. If that’s not perfect enough, McCormick also earned the pole in Pro Sport Bike and won that race, too, after leading every lap.

    On the opening day of official practice for the opening round of the 2009 Parts Canada Pro Superbike Championship, Brett "The Kid" McCormick ended the day with the fastest lap of all, on his 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000, outfitted with the latest in tuned Öhlins suspension components.

    Wait, there’s more. McCormick’s fastest lap was also a new overall motorcycle lap record for the 3.05-mile circuit of Calabogie Motorsports Park, located in beautiful Calabogie, Ontario, Canada. The Kid turned a lap of 2:01.853 on his Team Suzuki Blackfoot Racing Picotte Motorsport GSX-R1000.
