Last Saturday’s Spring Creek National was definitely a wild one. Four of the top 10 riders scored zero points, a new podium finisher (Chase Sexton) emerged, and a new rider entered the top five overall (Justin Barcia) in the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series. However, the top two refused to budge, so let’s take a look at the 2025 Washougal National Motocross fantasy picks and tips for RMFantasyMX players.
- The Lawrence Brothers have a lock on the top two slots. Jett has won the overall at every round, and Hunter has four P2 overalls in a row. It can’t get simpler than that.
- Chase Sexton has stepped back up to the podium. A fall in his return at the RedBud National kept him off the podium, but Sexton was not denied at the Spring Creek National last week. He was in P3 in both Spring Creek motos by a large margin. Sexton is a strong P3 pick.
- Justin Cooper should return to the top five at Washougal MX Park. A hard crash Saturday morning turned into a 5-13 result for Cooper at Spring Creek. Expect him to be back up to speed at the Washougal National. With Sexton in the mix, that means P4 for Cooper.
- R.J. Hampshire is a regular in the top five now. The rookie has been moving in this direction all year, going 9-7-7-8-6-4-4. However, Cooper has beaten Hampshire at every round this year, except last week when Cooper was banged up. So, that moves Hampshire down a slot to P5 in Washougal.
- Justin Barcia and Malcolm Stewart are credible top-five picks for the Washougal National. Barcia is on a 9-7-5 run, and Stewart has gone 10-8-6. If you’re looking to gain some ground on your RMFantasyMX league adversaries and are willing to take a risk, they’re your best choices.
- Aaron Plessinger will sit out the Washougal National. After not starting two of the last three motos and DNFing the other, Plessinger will not be at Washougal. He has undiagnosed health issues that he will be attempting to sort out.
- It’s Eli Tomac’s home round, but he seems lost. Something has happened to Tomac. His 13-7 results over the last two rounds have no explanation and no expectation that things will improve. After RedBud, Tomac said, “It was a tough weekend for us. We’ll regroup and finish better in Millville.” After the Spring Creek National in Millville, he said, “It was a difficult couple of motos this weekend. We’ll get back to work and try to be stronger next weekend.” Make of that what you will. I interpret it as a warning to not put him in the top five at the Washougal National on Saturday.
8. There are a few candidates for the P10 Wild Card slot, though none are a lock. It’s always a wild guess for the Wild Card, so let me throw some names and results out there. Benoit Paturel has a P10 and two P11s this year. Valentin Guillod is wildly inconsistent, but has P8, P9, and P11 overall finishes. Coty Schock has a P9 and P11 in the last four rounds. Harry Kullas has finished in P10, P11, P12, and P13 this year, so he’s in the neighborhood. Jason Anderson and Cooper Webb would have been worth considering, but neither will line up at Washougal MX Park. I’ll have Paturel on my card for the second week in a row, even though he never got on track at Spring Creek—can he disappoint two weeks in a row?
