Schubert S2 Sport Review | Premium Motorcycle Helmet

On many rides, short and long, especially on a high-performance naked bike with no wind protection, the S2 Sport shows itself to be stable at high speeds causing no buffeting, oscillation, or adverse effects when turning one’s head to the side. I’ve always liked the look of the spoiler around the lower edge of the helmet, and it helps create downforce at speed. The Schuberth S2 Sport never lifts no matter how fast I’ve gone, and you’re unlikely to experience chinstrap pull.

The air circulation through the chin vent is excellent and helps keep the visor fog-free on cold and wet mornings, even without installing the Pinlock lens. The top vent directs air that flows over the rider’s head and out the back vents. I’d rate overall ventilation as very good.

The helmet is very quiet and I do, occasionally, wear it without earplugs. My estimation is that the S2 Sport is say it’s as quiet as Schuberth’s C3 Pro, which is often called the quietest helmet on the market. This low-performance is, I believe, due in part to the deep chin shape culminating in the angular front spoiler designed to force most airflow over and around the helmet rather than under, which minimizes a noise source.

The lining is constructed of Coolmax fabric, and is simply a pleasure to draw over one’s head and cheeks. I also like that the entire lining is removable and really appreciate that after multiple day rides in scorching heat when the helmet never gets to dry out and, as with all helmets, can start to smell cheese-like.

For liner cleaning I immerse all components in soapy water using Castile soap or shampoo and give them a few squeezes before careful multiple rinses. I lay all the wet pieces on a towel and drying only takes a couple of hours. Once reassembled the helmet is as fresh as new.
