Nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi has confirmed his participation in “Sic Supermoto Day,” which will be held at Il Sagittario Circuit near Rome Sunday, Dec. 2.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the “Marco Simoncelli Foundation,” which uses its founds towards humanitarian purposes.
Rossi, who rejoins the Yamaha Factory Racing squad next to Jorge Lorenzo for 2013 MotoGP, will be teammates with the French four-time Supermoto champion Thierry Van Den Bosch. The two and the other competitors will complete 58 laps in the endurance-style race in memory of Super Sic’s racing number.
Each of the 30 All Stars teams will consist of one Supermotard rider and one rider from either MotoGP, World Superbike, Motocross, or something similar. Also joining the race will be World Superbike Champion Max Biaggi, and MotoGP competitors Andrea Dovizioso, Danilo Petrucci, Andrea Iannone and Karel Abraham.
Also participating will be Italian Supermoto riders like Ivan Lazzarini, Christian Ravaglia, Massimo Beltrami and Davide Gozzini, as well as international riders such as Adrien Chareyre, Boris Chambon, Mauno Hermunen, Devon Vermeulen, Pavel Kejmar and Thierry Van Den Bosch.
