Ducati Recall: 2011 Diavel, Multistrada

Ducati Recalls

Ducati is recalling 2010-2011 Multistrada 1200 and 2011 Diavel motorcycles due to steering lock issues. A total of 1,051 Ducati Multistrada/Diavel motorcycles are affected.

Ducati says the electronic steer lock may fail to disengage during the motorcycle “key-on” process. This failure has been linked directly to a certain revision of the hands-free device software on these model Ducati motorcycles.

If the electronic steer lock fails to disengage, it could result in the motorcycle’s engine starting while the steering is still locked. If this happens, the rider could attempt to ride away and have no steering, which could result in a crash.

Ducati dealers will update the software of the hands-free control unit free of charge. The Ducati recall of the Diavel and Multistrada 1200 is expected to begin in May. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or by visiting safercar.org.
