UK Motorcycle Award
The BMW K 1300 S has taken the top honors in RiDE magazine’s annual RiDER POWER Survey, the biggest customer poll of its kind in the United Kingdom motorcycle industry. This is the fourth time in a row a BMW has won the highly prized accolade.

International motorcycle markets remain weak. The negative trend on international motorcycle markets continued throughout the third quarter 2009. As a consequence, the 500 cc plus motorcycles segment relevant for the BMW Group contracted sharply (by 31.5 %) during the period from January to September 2009.
Motorcycle sales were down in all European markets, resulting in an overall drop of 21.9 % for the nine-month period.
On Friday, 32 female breast cancer survivors from the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Canada and Australia, departed Marina De Rey on a 900-mile, 9-day motorcycle journey up the famed Pacific Coast Highway to prove that breast cancer can’t defeat the human spirit. Dubbed Amazon Heart Thunder, the fifth anniversary of the ride also challenges the participants to raise funds for breast cancer charities and as of today, they’ve raised $63,000.
