For the second time since Monza, the reigning World Superbike Champion, Max Biaggi, will start from the pole position.
The Alitalia Aprilia RSV4 pilot posted a 1:58.580 Saturday at Brno, giving him the best start for Round 8 of the 2011 WSBK Championship. Biaggi held off fellow Italian, Yamaha Superbike’s Marco Melandri, by 0.221 of a second.

From the looks of things at qualifying practice and Superpole, tomorrow’s Motorland Aragon races are going to be a battle between three riders – series’ leader Carlos Checa (Althea Ducati), reigning World Superbike Champion Max Biaggi, and Marco Melandri (Yamaha Superbike).

Back on the calendar after nearly two decades, the Topeka raceway is playing host to another pair of great American Superbike races with four different brands represented on the front row for Saturday and Sunday’s 20 lap races.
Round 8 of the AMA Pro Racing National Guard American Superbike Championship kicked off today at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) riders Aaron Yates and Geoff May capturing the teams’ highest combined qualifying positions of the season. During late Friday afternoon’s Superpole session, Yates and May set down the second and third fastest times, and for the second time this season give MJM two of the four front row positions.
