2011 World Superbike
Although Carlos Checa didn’t win at Brno World Superbike, the Spaniard’s double-podium finishes added to his point lead.
After finishing third in both races, the Althea Ducati 1198R rider now has 293 points, 30 ahead of Alitalia Aprilia’s Max Biaggi after the eighth of 13 rounds.
For longtime fans of World Superbike Championship, 2011 will bring back some memories, especially if you’re a Honda fan.
This year, the famed green, red and white color scheme will once again be present, as Castrol Honda returns to World Superbike with Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus.

The biggest news this week in World Superbike is undoubtedly Castrol’s return to Honda. The two have a solid relationship since the 1959 Isle of Man TT, and the lubricant company is now back as title sponsor with Honda; the last time the two were united was 2002.
Hypermotard 796 Brawler
Only two years have passed since Ducati launched the original production Ducati Hypermotard. I tested the Hyper 1100 with Ruben Xaus sliding past me with thumbs up and knee down at the Mores circuit in Sardinia and loved it. Now, just two years later, Ducati is ready with the first addition to the Hypermotard family. The original Ducati Hypermotard is one of the most satisfying motorcycles in the world to ride hard, and the new Hypermotard 796 (803cc) version is no different.
It was just another unlucky day for BMW World Superbike rider Rubin Xaus. Or maybe it has just been an unlucky SBK season all year long. During the final 2009 World Superbike race weekend of the season at Portimao, Carlos Checa’s Honda blew up in front of Rubin Xaus.
The incident covered the front of Rubin’s S 1000 RR BMW with oil and obviously some of it went on to the front tire. The oil on his front tire caused the crash. According to Rubin Xaus, " I am happy that the crash wasn’t my fault, but I am unhappy with the result".
