For the first time in the 2011 MotoGP Championship, Dani Pedrosa will start on the front row, the Spaniard qualifying on top after posting a 1:56.591 at Brno Saturday.
The Repsol Honda rider, who lead both free practice sessions on Saturday by almost a half-second, was fast at qualifying, but still 0.268 of a second off his best Friday time.
2011 World Superbike
Although John Hopkins was entered into Silverstone World Superbike, Round 9 of the 2011 WSBK championship, he came out storming during Free Practice 1.
The American piloted his Samsung Crescent Racing Suzuki GSX-R1000 to a 2:06.667, taking the top time in the 60-minute, first Silverstone free practice session on Friday.
Just as in the first two practices for Laguna Seca MotoGP, the third and final session got underway with three riders having over four-tenths of a second advantage on the grid – Repsol Honda teammates Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa, and Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo.
Casey Stoner kicked off the 2011 Red Bull USGP round in top form during Free Practice 1 Friday after piloting his Repsol Honda to a 1:22.300 around the shortest circuit on the MotoGP circuit, Laguna Seca.
Stoner’s time was a second slower than the Laguna Seca circuit record that the Australian set in the 2010 MotoGP Championship (1:21.376).
