Hal’s H-D/Buell/Hal’s Speed Shop rider Dan Bilansky, the 2009 Pro Thunderbike champion, rode a Buell XB12R to a third-place finish in the final round of the ASRA Michelin Pro Series at Daytona International Speedway. The Pro Thunderbike race was won by Nate Kern on a BMW.
Bilansky clinched the 2009 ARSA Pro Thunderbike championship on September 20 at Virginia International Raceway. Bilansky also won the Pro Thunderbike title on a Buell in 2006.
Racer Michael Barnes set a new overall motorcycle track record at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR), outside Palm Beach, Florida, on a set of Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slicks.
Riding a Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the CCS event on Sunday, October 4, Barnes set a new track record of 1:16.608 on the 2-mile road course, while racing in the Unlimited GP Shootout class. This record was verified by Henry DeGouw of the CCS Florida Region and by Emily Brown, VP Marketing of PBIR.
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce that the AMA Racing Road Race Grand Championships, which will be held Sept. 10-13 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, will crown amateur road-racing national champions in a combined program that includes Championship Cup Series (CCS) classes.
Amateur racers will compete for AMA Racing Amateur National Championships and AMA Racing No. 1 plates, which they’ll receive at the AMA Racing Champions Banquet this Dec. 4 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

A former guitar player for the hard-rock band Queensrÿche, Mike Stone performs with other local musicians in the Mike Stone Rockin’ Race Show at all 2009 CCS races at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. In his last appearance at Blackhawk, guest guitarist and founder of Buell Motorcycles, Erik Buell, joined Stone on stage.
