Triumph Recalls Sprint GT, Tiger (XC)

Triumph Motorcycle Recall

Triumph is recall certain model 2011-2012 Sprint GT, Tiger 800 and Tiger 800 XC motorcycles due to a top box problem; Triumph says 134 motorcycles are affected.

On the Sprint GT, Tiger 800 and Tiger 800 XZ motorcycles manufactured from June 2010 through 2011, the top-box locking handle is missing a clip on the locking mechanism. The top box may detach from the machine, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will install a new fitment clip to the top box locking handle spindle to align the rack and pinion mechanism to prevent disengagement.

The safety recall is expected to begin during August 2011. Owners may contact Triumph Customer Service at 1-678-539-8782.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit safercar.gov.
