It was just another unlucky day for BMW World Superbike rider Rubin Xaus. Or maybe it has just been an unlucky SBK season all year long. During the final 2009 World Superbike race weekend of the season at Portimao, Carlos Checa’s Honda blew up in front of Rubin Xaus.
The incident covered the front of Rubin’s S 1000 RR BMW with oil and obviously some of it went on to the front tire. The oil on his front tire caused the crash. According to Rubin Xaus, " I am happy that the crash wasn’t my fault, but I am unhappy with the result".
Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport rider Troy Corser enjoyed one of the most consistent racedays of the season so far, taking a superb pair of top ten finishes at Assen today. Despite problems in Superpole qualifying, a lowly grid position and a painful left hand, Troy battled his way throughout the two 22-lappers.
