MotoGP: Rossi-Ridden Ducati 1198 Auction

Valentino Rossi/Ducati Auction

Last month, during the debut of the new "Silverstone Wing," Valentino Rossi lapped the Silverstone Circuit aboard a standard, 2011 Ducati 1198 fitted with mirrors and a license plate.

Now Ducati will auction off that bike, with all proceeds going to Riders for Health charity.

Ducati says: "This is a unique chance to own a piece of Ducati history and Rossi memorabilia. It will attract collectors, bike and race enthusiasts alike and in turn will raise money for a worthwhile cause. The money donated by Ducati UK will help Riders for Health to mobilize health workers with reliable motorcycles and train them in basic maintenance so that they are able to provide a regular health care to even very remote villages."

After riding the Ducati 1198, Valentino Rossi signed the bike, which will also be shown at the Riders for Health Day of Champions on June 9 at Silverstone in the UK. The bike will then go on the block on June 11, the day before MotoGP takes on Silverstone for Round 7.
