Following in the two-wheel tracks of Harley-Davidson, BMW Motorrad and Ducati, another motorcycle manufacturer will soon enter the India market – Triumph.
The British motorcycle company says it plans to enter India in 2012, but hasn’t set a specific date, or whether the company will import or assemble there.
Nick Bloor (Triumph Motorcycles UK Chief Executive Officer) says: “India is a very important motorcycle market and Triumph has assessed it carefully before deciding to step in. We see it as the next step in our global business model.”
Triumph has already set the move into motion by hiring Ashish Joshi as the managing director for India Triumph; Joshi recently worked for the India-based Royal Enfield. Triumph says Joshi has 16 years experience in the Asian and European motorcycle markets.
Nick Bloor says: “The appointment of Ashish Joshi is a signal of our seriousness about success in India. I wish him the best and look forward to comprehensive growth from the Indian market.”
