Supercross: San Manuel Yamaha Preview

2011 AMA Supercross

One of the biggest names in AMA Supercross, James Stewart, returns for 2011 on the San Manuel Yamaha YZF450 with a new teammate, Kyle Regal.

This puts much talent on the Yamaha SX team, considering Stewart is a seven-time AMA Champion (two Supercross titles), and Regal was the 2009 "Rookie of the Year" in the AMA Motocross 450 class.

Stewart had a disappointing season in 2010, but is focused on his return at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., this Saturday. The Yamaha rider is hoping to have a strong start as he contest for his third Supercross Championship title.

James Stewart (San Manuel Yamaha) says: "I’m super excited to get back to racing this weekend. I’ve been anticipating my return for months."

Stewart’s new teammate, Kyle Regal, will make his debut start in the 450 Class of Supercross. Regal has been training extensively for the 2011 Supercross season, and his team has an overall optimistic lookout for Regal heading into the season.

Larry Brooks (San Manuel Yamaha Supercross Team Manager) says: "Kyle has incredible talent on the race track and has been putting in the laps needed to be ready for Saturday. I am entirely confident in his ability to finish high among the best in the sport this season."

"We are very fortunate to have the best riders and sponsors in the sport and are looking forward to chasing the Championship this year."

The 2011 SX season kicks off Saturday in Anaheim; SPEED will provide coverage at 7 p.m. (PST).
