Yamaha & Jonah Street to Dakar | Video

2011 Dakar Rally

Here’s a YouTube video from Touratech USA showing Jonah Street aboard the 2011 Yamaha WR450 Dakar Rally Bike for the first time. In the video, Street, of Ellensburg, Washingon, is also presented with a sponsorship check for his Dakar Rally efforts.

In late October it was confirmed that Jonah Street, who finished seventh overall in last year’s Dakar Rally, would be riding with GYTR Yamaha to take on the 2011 Rally in Argentina and Chile from Jan. 1-16, 2011.

Street finished on the podium during his first Dakar appearance in 2006. In 2007, he was running fourth overall until he blew an engine, which made for an early retirement.

For 2008, the event was canceled due to security concerns, but when the action began in 2009, Street won a stage, but had to withdraw from the ultimate motorcycle endurance event due to a wrist injury.

Much of the money needed for Street’s 2011 Rally effort was from fans purchasing special Touratech-USA t-shirts; all proceeds went directly to Street.
