    World Endurance Champion crowned

    The Yamaha Austria Racing Team’s (YART) 2009 YZF R1 crossed the finish line at the Bol d’Or yesterday to claim the 2009 World Endurance Championship title. YART started the 24 hour race at its usual pace, setting the best lap time and keeping an unmatched tempo with consistent times under 1.42 for a streak of 91 laps. Unfortunately the team was heavily tested when some issues appeared and ultimately lost the chance of a podium.

    Four Time World and AMA Champion Doug Polen and Three Time AMA Flattrack and AMA Superbike Champion Bubba Shobert will be on hand for autographs at Ducati Austin, Austin Texas June 16 from 5-6 pm, and will attend a Ducati-oriented track day on the following Wednesday 17th.

    1991 and 1992 World Superbike Champion, Doug Polen is credited with racking up the most wins in a season. Polen is also the 1993 AMA Superbike Champion and ’97 and ’98 World Endurance Champion. He currently teaches riding techniques at his One-on-One schools across the U.S.
