day in Jerez, Spain, Valentino Rossi completed 50 laps aboard the Ducati GP12, the prototype the team will develop for the 2012 MotoGP Championship.

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) says: “In my opinion, it’s more enjoyable, more fun to ride. It was the first time we had it on the track, so we had some work to do, but the engine is nicer. It’s a lot of fun, and you can do some nice slides. It’s the bike we’ll ride next year, so it was very important-and also very nice-to be among the first to take it on the track.”

Rossi, who finished fifth round 2 of the 2010 MotoGP Championship after a controversial crash that involved Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner, worked with the Ducati MotoGP team throughout the GP12 test, the Ducati team compiling the initial data for the machine they will use in the 2012 MotoGP Championship.

On Saturday, Rossi’s teammate Nicky Hayden also tested the Ducati GP12, lapping the Jerez circuit 61 times.
