After completing 50 laps aboard the Ducati GP12 Friday at the Jerez circuit in Spain, MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi reported the engine is “nicer.”

Valentino Rossi (Ducati MotoGP) says: “I’m happy. I like the GP12. In my opinion, it’s more enjoyable, more fun to ride. It was the first time we had it on the track, so we had some work to do, but the engine is nicer. It’s a lot of fun, and you can do some nice slides. It’s the bike we’ll ride next year, so it was very important-and also very nice-to be among the first to take it on the track.”

Rossi, who finished fifth at Jerez last Sunday after a controversial crash that involved Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner, worked with the Ducati MotoGP team throughout the GP12 test, the team compiling the initial data for the machine they will use in the 2012 MotoGP Championship.

Next will be Rossi’s teammate Nicky Hayden; the Kentucky Kid will be on the Jerez circuit Saturday to further test the GP12.
