The 2010 Supercross season continues to get more and more exciting. Round 3 unfolded last night at Anaheim 2 with a great battle toward the front of the pack. Austin Stroupe took the hole shot and won the $1,500 Spike Holeshot Award on his Suzuki.

Surprisingly with his injuries, James Stewart on the new YZ540F was in tow and then quickly moved into the lead, passing Stroupe on the opening lap. Stewart’s teammate Josh Hill, who has been riding well this year, then passed Stroupe for second. Ryan Dungey, for the first time of the year was back in seventh but by the end of lap two he moved into fourth place.

James Stewart, with no warm-up or practice to speak off, managed the pain from his injuries and held the lead until end of lap six. Josh Hill passed Stewart for the lead on lap six to the roar of the crowd. Stewart held off the charging Ryan Dungey until lap eleven when he took James for second place.

Hovering in second place until lap fourteen, Dungey made the pass on Hill. Ryan held on for the win while extending his championship lead over Josh Hill to 15 points. Hill finished second while the battered James Stewart finished an impressive third.
