TCX Reveals New Comp Evo Michelin Off-Road Boot

TCX unveiled its newest boot immediately after the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Press Conference for A1 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The Italian brand’s new flagship model is called the TCX Comp Evo Michelin, which is designed for use in motocross, enduro, and off-road applications. The boots will be worn by RCH/Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing’s Broc Tickle in the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series and Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series, and Monster Energy/CLS/Kawasaki’s Dylan Ferrandis in the 2016 FIM MXGP Motocross World Championship Series.

One of the most unique aspects of the TCX Comp Evo Michelin is the Michelin MX Hybrid sole, which is inspired by Michelin tire company’s MultiWay 3D tire. The main focus that went into this part of the boot was traction and stability. TCX went about achieving this goal by adding macro-grooves, micro-grooves, and a macro-siped (thin slits in the rubber) rear tread pattern. Benefits include an idealized shape and sculpture, tear resistance, and increased durability.

The new TCX Comp Evo Michelin boot also boasts of a new Double Flex Control System, which features a polyurethane joint in the ankle area to improve the front and rear flexibility range by up to 18 degrees forward and 15 degrees backward.

However, keeping safety in mind, two lugs that slide into the dedicated pockets prevent hyperextension of the ankle. The Double Flex Control System’s fastening band assists in both areas, as well by allowing for increased flexibility, while preventing hyperextension upon extreme impacts.

TCX is well aware that some riders wear knee braces and others don’t, so the engineers implemented a calf adjustment system for the TCX Comp Evo Michelin. The adjustment is located in the shine plate and offers two different positions depending on the desired range of movement.

Focusing on a slim toe design in order to make shifting as easy of a task as possible as well, as adding a rubber heat shield to ensure the best grip to the frame of the bike, was another priority for TCX. The aluminum buckles are designed to easily be released and feature small adjustments to ensure the best fit.

The Comp Evo Michelin is offered in a wide variety of colorways, to suit anyone’s desire including white, black, red, orange, green, scuba blue, and white/blue/red. The sizing ranges from 5 to 14 (Euro 38-49) to fit nearly any adult-sized feet. At an MSRP of $570, the Comp Evo Michelins are competitively priced for a top of the line boot.
