American Suzuki Motor Corp. (ASMC) announced today that Suzuki factory racer Blake Young will compete in the next round of World Superbike racing at Donington Park in Great Britain next weekend, June 26 – 28, 2009. Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Young will race the 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 of injured rider Max Neukirchner for the Team Suzuki Alstare Brux team.
According to ASMC, the World Superbike ride came about while Young and former World Champion Kevin Schwantz were attending last weekend’s race at San Marino’s Misano World Circuit.
Team Suzuki Alstare Brux are giving talented American Blake Young a ride on Max Neukirchner’s GSX-R1000 K9 at Donington this weekend, With Max still sidelined through injury, Team manager Francis Batta has decided to give 21-year old Blake a no-pressure ride at the East Midlands circuit after discussions with Young and former World Champion Kevin Schwantz.
Blake comes from Wisconsin, USA and is riding the Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing GSX-R1000 in this year’s AMA championship, taking two podiums to date.
Biaggi (Aprilia) takes the top slot in opening qualifying session at Valencia.
Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) was the man on form in Friday’s first qualifying session at the Valencia circuit in Spain. The Italian, who was always amongst the pacesetters, set the quickest time of the day ten minutes before the end of the session with a time of 1 minute 34.775 seconds. Right behind Biaggi were the two race winners in the opening rounds of this year’s championship, Ben Spies (Yamaha World Superbike) and Noriyuki Haga (Ducati Xerox).
