2010 SBK Season Preview
Click video to watch the 2010 WSBK season preview. There are currently 25 full-time World Superbike riders scheduled to join what looks set to be the most exciting and evenly matched two-wheeled contest of all in 2010. From Aprilia to Yamaha and all points in between, the seven competing manufacturers will field riders who are not only proven winners, but capable of taking more silverware at some stage this season. A look at the competing riders’ past records is proof enough of the high-class field.
The first official tests of the new SBK season get underway at Portimao between January 22 to 24 and the entry includes both riders and teams of the highest quality and quantity.
With some privateer teams still to confirm their final plans for 2010 there are already well over 20 top level riders in SBK this year, on machinery from seven different manufacturers, all of whom will be going all out to fight for wins during the 13-round season.
Ben Spies (Yamaha World Superbike) will start tomorrow’s Utah US Round of the Hannspree FIM Superbike World Championship at Miller Motorsports Park from pole position after powering to a record seventh Superpole in seven races. The 24-year-old Texan wiped out the old record of six poles on the run set by fellow Texan Doug Polen in 1991. Spies was quickest both in Superpole 2 and Superpole 3 to take the front slot with a time of 1 minute 48.319 seconds.
