Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking has decided not to race the ninth round of the AMA Pro Road Racing Series at Heartland Park Topeka in Topeka, Kansas citing safety issues.
Hacking met with AMA officials to explain his withdraw and then met privately with Heartland Park Track Owner Raymond Irwin to discuss areas of concern around the track.
"I was introduced to Raymond (Irwin) and had the chance to go over a track map with him," said Hacking. "I think that he really respected my concerns and was very receptive to my suggestions."
Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing/RMR/GEICO Powersports rider Danny Eslick swept both races of the AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike double-header weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, clinching victory in Sunday’s second race with a dramatic last-lap pass on rival Jamie Hacking.

Tommy Hayden brought home a podium finish in the second of two AMA Superbike races in the series double-header weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, on Sunday afternoon (Round 8 – AMA Superbike Series, Race 2). Although Hayden had struggled in Saturday’s race and finished sixth, on Sunday the Kentucky native put all the proverbial pieces together and captured a third-place finish on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R1000. This result marks Hayden’s seventh visit to the AMA Superbike podium this year and he is currently second overall in the championship points standings.
Martin Cardenas celebrated another podium finish in the AMA Daytona SportBike class on Sunday afternoon at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio (Round 8 – AMA Daytona Sportbike Series). The Colombian rider got a good start on his M4 Suzuki GSX-R600 and battled for the final podium position for the first half of the 21-lap race.
Two-time AMA Champion Jason Pridmore’s STAR Motorcycle School has added Heartland Park Topeka and rescheduled Spring Mountain Motorsports dates to its 2009 schedule. "We’re headed back to Topeka on August 31st / September 1st and we are looking forward to riding at the improved Heartland Park", said Pridmore. "Our friends at SoCal Trackdays were kind enough to reschedule our snowed-out Spring Mountain School for October 10th/11th. We head straight from Spring Mountain to Thunderhill, where we’ve lowered our price to $250 per day.
