More than 60 race teams showed up to do battle at the annual HYR Endurance Series 24-Hours of Glen Helen Endurance Race. When the dust finally cleared, David had once again beaten Goliath as Zip-Ty Racing finished top 2-stroke in the field and put the little Husqvarna WR300 ahead of many of the factory 450 4-strokes for third overall.
Branden Jesseman and Ricky Dietrich will compete this weekend for Monster Energy Kawasaki at the third round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Racing Motocross Championship. Both riders have a strong Kawasaki pedigree with Jesseman having raced for the Canidae/Motosport/Kawasaki team earlier this year and Dietrich coming over from the Monster Energy Kawasaki Off-Road program.
Jesseman will be making his 450 class debut this week at Freestone County Raceway.
The highly anticipated Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship made its season premiere last weekend with a memorable South Point Hotel & Casino Motocross National from Glen Helen Raceway. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto became just the third rider in history to win his 450 Class debut, overcoming rivals Mike Alessi and Josh Grant in addition to Chad Reed to capture his first motocross victory in the big class.
A deeply talented field of 250 Class competitors lived up to expectations as a handful of riders battled bar-to-bar for the overall win.
Ryan Villopoto started off the 2009 AMA Pro Racing Motocross Championship just as he finished the 2009 supercross season, on the top step of the podium. Villopoto went 1-1 in his motocross 450 class debut making it 26 straight moto wins for the Kawasaki KX450F.
The first flags fell on the South Point Hotel & Casino Motocross National, opening round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship from Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif., with practice and qualifying for the 450 and 250 classes.
Rockstar/Makita Suzuki pulled a sweep of the fastest times with Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey sitting atop the charts, respectively. The first gates of the South Point Hotel & Casino Motocross National drop at 1 p.m.
