2011 MotoGP FP Results
Last year at the Portuguese Grand Prix, then Rookie Marco Simoncelli finished fourth, which was the best finish so far in his MotoGP career.
During that race, Simoncelli missed out on the podium by a mere 0.059 of a second aboard the San Carlo Honda Gresini RC212V.
The first timed World Superbike sessions of the Donington Park weekend (60 minutes each) got underway Friday with two riders up top: Althea Ducati’s Carlos Checa in Free Practice 1, and then the reigning Champion Max Biaggi taking the provisional pole in the first qualifying session.
The winds were brutal at Losail International Circuit in Qatar for Free Practice 2 (FP2) Friday afternoon, but they didn’t stop the Australian MotoGP star Casey Stoner.
The Repsol Honda rider continued to set the pace, posting an impressive 1:55.457, a full 1.3 seconds faster than best time in Thursday’s FP1.

There’s no doubt Marc Marquez has quickly adapted to the Moto2 class.
Throughout the 2011 Moto2 pre-season tests, the 18-year-old Spaniard had positive results, and these results were duplicated Thursday at Free Practice 1 and Free Practice 2 for the opening round of the season at Qatar.

During the 2010 season, MotoGP implemented three practice sessions at the debut of the Aragon circuit, and then at the final two rounds in Portugal and Valencia.
It was assumed that MotoGP would begin using the three-practice format in 2011, and on Monday, the FIM Grand Prix Commission proved this assumption correct.
