    Team Suzuki Superbike interviews race 1 Mid-Ohio

    Mat Mladin picked up another podium finish in Saturday afternoon’s AMA Superbike race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. The six-time AMA Superbike Champion charged hard through the field on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R1000 and brought home a third-place finish. Currently, Mladin still leads the overall championship points in AMA Superbike. Joining Mladin on the podium was Jordan Suzuki’s Aaron Yates. Yates battled for the lead for much of the race before finishing an impressive second place.

    Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, on Sunday afternoon. The six-time AMA Superbike Champion
    rode flawlessly and battled with his teammate Blake Young for much of the race, which was
    abbreviated due to earlier crashes that drew a red flag. Young followed Mladin home in a close second
    place after having led multiple laps of the race on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R1000.

    Blake Young to race World Superbike Donington

    American Suzuki Motor Corp. (ASMC) announced today that Suzuki factory racer Blake Young will compete in the next round of World Superbike racing at Donington Park in Great Britain next weekend, June 26 – 28, 2009. Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Young will race the 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 of injured rider Max Neukirchner for the Team Suzuki Alstare Brux team.

    According to ASMC, the World Superbike ride came about while Young and former World Champion Kevin Schwantz were attending last weekend’s race at San Marino’s Misano World Circuit.

    Team Suzuki Alstare Brux are giving talented American Blake Young a ride on Max Neukirchner’s GSX-R1000 K9 at Donington this weekend, With Max still sidelined through injury, Team manager Francis Batta has decided to give 21-year old Blake a no-pressure ride at the East Midlands circuit after discussions with Young and former World Champion Kevin Schwantz.

    Blake comes from Wisconsin, USA and is riding the Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing GSX-R1000 in this year’s AMA championship, taking two podiums to date.

    As he has done for every American Superbike motorcycle race thus far in 2009, Mladin put the No. 7 Rockstar/Makita/Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 on the pole, this time with a lap at 2:13.218 (109.391 mph). The six-time American Superbike champion has won eight of the season’s nine races to date and goes in search of his ninth Road America victory in Saturday’s first race of the doubleheader.

    Racing the 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 model for the first time today, Mladin dropped back to fourth on the opening lap after starting from pole on the No. 7 Makita/Rockstar Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000. However, he quickly began working his way back toward the front, and claimed the lead from Ben Bostrom’s No. 2 Yamaha R1 on Lap 6 of the 21-lap race.
