BMW R 1200 GS Review
As a motorcycle journalist I am in the enviable position of being able to ride the entire range of offerings from virtually all the manufacturers. So it is with some perspective that I say; the BMW R 1200 GS is my favorite all-around motorcycle. That wasn’t always the case. Not all that long ago that I didn’t quite get the BMW GS motorcycles.
Ayres Adventures has introduced a new service to provide their customers with a professionally designed, custom-made hardcover book commemorating their motorcycle tour with the company.
"A common refrain from many tour participants is that our Adventures are so packed with extraordinary experiences that it’s difficult to fully embrace all of them during the tour," states Ron Ayres, founder and president of Ayres Adventures.
Ayres Adventures has introduced an innovative payment program designed to make it easier and less expensive for riders to participate in one of the company’s motorcycle tours. The Adventure Payment Program offers discounts to riders who book the company’s motorcycle tours in advance and who agree to have monthly payments deducted from their bank accounts or against their American Express, Visa, or MasterCard charge cards.
Discounts vary from about 4% for riders booking a year in advance to about 6% or more for riders booking 18 months ahead.
Motorcycle: Planet Desert
Since 1991, motorcycle adventurer and desert expert Michael Martin has used BMW GS models as fast, robust and reliable partners on his long-distance travels. Over the years, BMW GS versions have taken him to such places as the sources of the Nile, right across Africa and through deserts there. He has undertaken journeys on BMW GS models to the desert regions of Asia, Australia and America.
Motorcyclists treasure those moments of solitude when our mounts transport us to uncharted places. But it may be difficult to imagine traveling across five countries on dangerous dirt tracks, rocky roads, and some of the most brutal desert landscapes in the world for 15 sleepless days, just to say, “I did it.” However, that is precisely what the intrepid competitors who undertake the legendary Dakar Rally set out to do.
