2006 Gregg’s Custom GC-1000 | Feature

From an early age, Gregg DesJardins was inadvertently spoon-fed a unique customization and chrome awareness. He grew up around the creative environs of the family's garage, in close proximity to his father's passion for building hot rods. A wonderful metallurgical playground of rolling cut-and-chopped Detroit iron fueled young DesJardins' fertile imagination and set the developmental gears in motion.

2007 Victory Kingpin Tour | Motorcycle Review

Non-conformity ain't what it used to be. Harley-Davidson motorcycles spent decades holding the torch for rebel outlaws and angry young men, but the world—and the motorcycle universe—is a different place in 2007. Now favored by weekend warriors with disposable income, Harley's evolving demographic has cast the Motor Company in a more mainstream light. At the same time, there is a migration of riders from pure cruisers to touring cruisers.

Riding the Wraith

New Orleans never labored beneath the austere Puritan ethos imposed elsewhere in the United States; rather, the Crescent City's French-derived Creole and Cajun population embraced the relaxed philosophy of laissez les bons temps rouler—let the good times roll.

Legends of the Motorcycle | Motorcycle Event

Certainly every motorcyclist knows something about this motorcycle legend. A 1947 Fourth of July weekend Gypsy Tour gathering of bikers in Hollister, Calif., was embellished by the fanciful imagination of a San Francisco Chronicle reporter and became “4000 Touring Cyclists Wreak Havoc in Hollister.” The story is picked up across the country, culminating with the infamous staged photo of a slovenly, drunken biker in Life magazine, who became our unelected representative. The image was burned into America's collective cornea and we've been dealing with the fallout ever since.

Lids for all Occasions | Motorcycle Helmets

In the right/wrong circumstances, a motorcycle helmet can be the gift of life. No matter what kind of motorcycle riding you prefer, we believe a helmet is an indispensable piece of your riding ensemble.

Low speed riding can be used by cruisers to justify a less-protective helmet that focuses on a lifestyle appearance. The minimalist Bell Drifter retains its DOT approval, and has detail features we appreciate—a rear goggle strap stay, optional ear pads for cold weather riding, and great styling.

Limited Edition

“We lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies,” thus spake Jack Kerouac in 1957's On the Road. That same year, Harley-Davidson gave pilgrims a soon-to-be-classic motorcycle to lean forward on—the venerable Sportster, which celebrates its golden jubilee in 2007 with a 2,000-run Limited Edition 1200cc tribute. A serialized nameplate and a gold badge on the tank are among many touches that commemorate Harley's versatile classic.

Lightning Long

In the Middle Ages, the alchemist's goal was to turn a base metal into gold. If there is a modern day equivalent of a base metal in the motorcycle world, it is quite possibly the Harley-Davidson powerplant. Designed for appearance over performance, the big V-twins from Milwaukee surely excel at their jobs as successfully as a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 powerplant. But then, there are the alchemists. The men who strive to defy physics.
