$20,000 MMI / Jeremy McGrath Scholarship awarded at 2009 finals

Jason Harley Abney, Hazel Wirth and Brandon Dooley were awarded the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute(MMI)/Jeremy McGrath Scholarship tonight at the 2009 Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, finals at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.

The MMI/Jeremy McGrath Scholarship was designed for individuals who have a passion for working on motorcycles to submit an application and two-minute DVD expressing why they should receive the scholarship. This is the first year that three individuals will share $20,000 to apply to their program of choice at MMI campuses in Phoenix, Ariz.

Kevin Schwantz School gets nod from the MSF

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) today announced its recognition of the Kevin Schwantz School, making it the first outside training curriculum to receive this distinction by the MSF. Founded by 1993 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz in 2001, the school has recently relocated to the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala.

Motorcycle Safety Foundation joins Forces at Pentagon

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) is pleased to announce its participation in the third annual National Capital Region Joint Services motorcycle safety event on Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Last year's event drew hundreds of bikers, enthusiasts, and an assortment of guest speakers including congressional staff, military commanders, and Hollywood actress and rider Catherine Bell.

The countdown to the much-anticipated new MotoGP season got underway this weekend in Jerez, when the bikes got out on track for the final pre-season MotoGP test. All of the MotoGP teams gathered at the Andalucian circuit and Ducati Corse riders Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden made a ´pit-stop´ in Madrid, stopping off at a Shell filling station in the Spanish capital en route to their final testing session before the beginning of the season.

The California Motorcyclist Safety Program (CMSP) has launched a significantly enhanced version of its website, www.ca-msp.org. The CMSP is a motorcyclist-funded, state-operated program administered by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) under contract with the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
