BMW Motorrad calls the Pro Touring 2 boot a “professional-grade touring boot for year-round use.” I agree.
The boot is full-grain, water-repellent cowhide that is Gore-Tex and velour lined. After one or two rides they have become my most-often worn, non-perfed touring boot. I like real leather and they actually polish to a nice, non-glossy finish.
During a recent midnight ride test of the BMW StreetGuard suit, I wore these boots with a thin cotton sock and they were cozy from 78 down to 48 degrees F. Even when I had to insert the liner in my jacket and wished my gloves were better insulated, I never gave a thought to my feet. That says a lot.
The build quality and materials are first-class. They are true to size for me and are easy to get on and off with their outside zipper and hook and loop upper closure. They have a nice, stiff shin protector and foam padding throughout.
There are flex zones in the heel and instep that make them enjoyable to wear right away with no break-in time required. The Gore-Tex waterproof, windproof and breathable liner extends to near the top of the boot to keep you dry when wading through shallow puddles.
I have ridden in them on days as hot as 90 degrees. They were a bit warm but bearable at a temperature at which I would usually wear perforated boots. If I were to venture into colder climes I would wear a sock liner and woolen socks and expect that these boots would be comfortable to near freezing. I’ll try them in January on the annual Tonopah ride. Stay tuned.
The BMW Pro Touring 2 boot is true to its name.
