BMW Motorrad October 2014 Sales
BMW Motorrad continues to set the demand bar for new models. As demand rises, the Bavarian motorcycle manufacturer continues to set new sales records, and its latest arrives for the month of October.
During October 2014, BMW Motorrad sold 8,835 motorcycles and maxi scooters worldwide – a new record for October. Compared to 8,376 sold in October 2013, this shows a 5.5-percent increase in sales.
For the first 10 months of 2014, BMW worldwide sales are up 7.4 percent over the same period of 2013.
Heiner Faust, Head of Sales and Marketing at BMW Motorrad, says “We have increased our deliveries by 7.4% since the start of the year, reaching over 109,000 motorcycles and Maxi-Scooters. In October we achieved an increase of 5.5% with 8,835 units, also a new record. Demand for our motorcycles worldwide is developing very positively. This puts us on track for the fourth sales record in a row for the year 2014 as a whole.”
BMW continually attributes its semi-water cooled R 1200 GS, which is its number-one selling motorcycle. But BMW Motorrad expects additional momentum in sales due to the release of new models at this year’s INTERMOT show in Cologne, Germany, and EICMA in Milan.
During INTERMOT, BMW unveiled the R 1200 R, the R 1200 RS and the S 1000 RR. It followed these new models with the new F 800 R and the S 1000 XR.
Speaking of the latter, BMW says “With the S 1000 XR BMW Motorrad is expanding its product portfolio to include a genuine all-rounder in the Adventure Sport segment. The fourth member of the family of high-powered sporty BMW motorcycles with four-cylinder in-line engine unites dynamic touring qualities, sporting performance, great comfort and superior everyday performance.
BMW says the over 600,000 visitors at EICMA were equally interested in the new BMW F 800 R. The sporty roadster with liquid-cooled 2-cylinder engine offers improved all-round qualities and a new design.
