An important name has rejoined the ranks of the Sidi Sport riders today – 2014 World Superbike Champion Sylvain Guintoli.

In the coming 2016 World Superbike Championship, the Frenchman Guintoli will pilot a Yamaha R1 on behalf of team Crescent Racing.

The 2016 season marks Yamaha’s official return into the SBK World championship after a four year respite from the series; Ben Spies is the only rider to claim a World Superbike title for Yamaha (2009).

Guintoli will be paired up with the promising young British rider, Alex Lowes,  will be backed by Sidi Sport boots.

Hailing from Montelimar, France, the 33-year-old Guintoli became World Champion in Superbike in the 2014 season (Aprilia Racing Team). He boasts an impressive resume to say the least; nine race victories, 41 podiums, four pole positions and 12 fastest lap times round out a notable career thus far.

After a lackluster 2015 season with Pata Honda, Guintoli with the help of Yamaha will try to regain that pace with a renewed level of desire and determination to become a front runner in WSBK for the 2016 season. Sidi wishes Sylvain the best of luck in February, as the 2016 World Superbike season begins in Australia at the famed Phillip Island circuit.
