2015 Troy Bayliss Classic

This past weekend, a few AMA Pro Flat Track stars took on international riders like two-time MotoGP Champion Marc Marquez at the Superprestigio in Barcelona, Spain.

Present in Spain were AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Champion Brad Baker – who won the Superprestigio in 2014 – Jared Mees, and Shanya Texter. Mees finished second behind Marquez – the winner in the Open Class. As for Baker, he injured his shoulder in practice Saturday and didn’t compete on Sunday.

But Baker will have another shot at international flat track fame on January 17 when he heads to Australia for the 2015 Motul Pirelli Troy Bayliss Classic presented by InsureMyRide & Garden Master at Taree Motorcycle Track.

Baker – the third-youngest Grand National Champion – will be joined by fellow American Flat Tracker Sammy halbert. This will be the first time Baker participates in the Troy Bayliss Classic.

“I am super excited to be competing in the 2015 Troy Bayliss Classic,” Baker said.“Many great stories have been shared with me about Australia and it’s racing. All I can say is, wow, it sounds awesome.

“Troy and many other Australians are amazing racers. With myself and Sammy Halbert being added to the list of riders I am sure the 2015 event will produce some of the best racing yet.”

Halbert, who won the Americana at this years Troy Bayliss Classic acknowledged he has some unfinished business after crashing out of the final while battling Bayiss for the win.

“I’m even more excited to head back to Taree this time around,” Halbert said.

“After battling for the win last January only to crash out before the finish, I definitely have some unfinished business to take care of. Troy and the boys better be ready because I am in it to win it,” Halbert added.

Bayliss also commented: “We are incredibly lucky to have Brad Baker and Sammy Halbert confirmed to contest the 2015 Troy Bayliss Classic. To see these guys racing some of our best racers on an Australian track, is an opportunity not to be missed.

“Sammy took out the Americana last year but I know he wants the big one and to take the Troy Bayliss Classic trophy back to the USA. I am looking forward to racing Brad this weekend in Spain. He won this event last year so I am keen to see how I stack up against him,” Bayliss added.

Tickets to the 2015 Motul Pirelli Troy Bayliss Classic presented by InsureMyRide & Garden Master are on sale now via www.troybaylissevents.com.
