2015 World Superbike Private Testing

Two major World Superbike teams were present during the first day of two in an unofficial private test Monday at Motorland Aragon – Kawasaki Racing Team and the Ducati Team.

Due to wet conditions and morning fog at the Spanish circuit, the testing began later than usual. The test was run under the same track configuration used in 2014 World Superbike, which includes the long left hander before the start/finish line.

When Aragon completely dried around noon, the teams began setting some quick times. Leading was the Ducati Team of Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies aboard the 1199 Panigale R.

Both riders achieved a 1:51.3, which was a tenth faster than the quickest Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja at the test – the 2013 SBK Champion Tom Sykes.

As for the Brits new teammate, Jonathan Rea, who rode for Pata Honda in 2014 World SBK, had his first shakedown of the ZX-10R Ninja. During his debut, the Ulsterman was a half-second slower than Sykes as he became acquainted to the new machined and the technical rules that go into affect for 2015.

Also at the test was the new factory Kawasaki team in World Supersport – San Carlo Puccetti Racing. It’s main rider, three-time WSS Champion Kenan Sofuoglu, put in 45 laps aboard his ZX-6R Ninja, posting a personal best of 1:55.6. The Turk will be the sole test rider for the new factory team throughout 2015 pre-season testing.

The three teams will return to Aragon Tuesday for the final day of testing.

2014 MotorLand Aragon Test Results – Day 1 (unofficial) 1- Davide Giugliano 1’51.3 – Chaz Davies 1’51.3 3- Tom Sykes 1’52.2 4 – Jonathan Rea 1’52.7 5 – Kenan Sofuoglu (WSS) 1’55.6
