2014 Red Bull Indy MotoGP Schedule
For those lucky enough to make it to the Red Bull Indianapolis round of the 2014 MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 series and the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series Race, there will be no shortage of great sights, sounds and activities to enjoy throughout the weekend at the legendary Brickyard.
Of course, it is difficult to imagine anything more exciting than seeing whether Repsol Honda MotoGP whiz-kid and reigning world champion, Marc Marquez, can continue his sweep of the MotoGP series.
Marquez has won all nine events so far, amassing 225 points, a whopping 77 point advantage over his Repsol Honda teammate and fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa who is in second place.
The battles between the Marquez/Pedrosa Repsol Honda team and the MovieStar Yamaha YZR-M1 prototypes of Valentino Rossi (currently in third place in the series with 141 points) and his teammate Jorge Lorenzo (in fifth place with 97 points) have electrified the fans all season.
Fans with an interest in the longest unbeaten streaks in GP racing history will also be watching to see if Marquez can equal the ten consecutive victory seasons Italy’s Giacomo Agostini had in both 1968 and 1969, both in the 500 cc class as a factory rider for MV Agusta.
This season, the Yamahas have tended to get out front early only to see Marquez and Pedrosa run them down late in the events and win. Going into round 10 at Indy, Marquez has to like his chances; on top of winning all nine races so far this season, he has never lost a MotoGP event in the U.S. Of course, races won in the past don’t guarantee anything in the future, but it shows how adaptable Marquez really is.
Moto2 points leader, Esteve Rabat (SP) has a 19 point lead over second place holder Mika Kallio (FIN) and a 50 point lead over third place Maverick Vinales (SP). All three are on Kalex rides.
Jack Miller (AUS) leads Moto3 for Red Bull KTM with 142 points followed by Marc Marquez’s younger brother, Alex Marquez riding for the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda team with 123 points.
In the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series, Danny Eslick is in a tight contest with Tyler O’Hara, leading the series by only six points over O’Hara with only two races left to go in the season: Indy and New Jersey.
