Alex Marquez2014 Catalunya Moto3 ResultsAlex Marquez led the Moto3 race from start to finish at his home round in Catalunya to land his second win in the class – his first coming at the Motegi circuit last year.
The win also marks Honda’s first in Moto3 since 2012, breaking the current KTM winning streak in the class.The younger Marquez – brother of MotoGP Champion Marc Marquez – finished 3.2 clear of second place finisher Enea Bastianini, whose rookie season in the Championship on the Junior Go&Fun bike is showing promise.The rookie continued his strong showing converting his best qualifying into a first podium in an incredible second for the rider, after a competitive and mature ride.Efren Vazquez took third on his Honda with championship-points leader Red Bull KTM’s Jack Miller tailing close behind. Sky Racing VR46 rider Romano Fenati managed fifth after suffering electrical problems in qualifying and starting from sixteenth.Brad Binder marked his best finish of the year with sixth, followed by younger brother to Maverick, Isaac Viñales. Niklas Ajo appeared to be ready to take second place until losing control of his bike, though the Finn managed an incredible save after the machine flung both legs over the bike and had him seated side saddle at one point.John McPhee and Francesco Bagnaia completed the top ten finishers. Alex Rins retired from the race after just three laps due to a lost gear shifter. The Spanish rider had begun the race with a broken foot following a crash the day prior in qualifying.Other non-finishers include Niccolo Antonelli, who crashed out on the first lap—his thirteenth of the season–while one lap later, wildcard Maria Herrera collided with SIC-AJO rider Hafiq Azmi, ending the race for both of them.2014 Catalunya Moto3 Results:
