2014 Yamaha Factory Racing
Ahead of the 2014 MotoGP Championship, Yamaha Factory Racing is set to unveil Friday the livery of its team at Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital.
Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi will be on hand when Yamaha unveils the latest YZR-M1 prototypes and their livery.
The latest edition of the M1 was already witnessed at the post-season Valencia test, though Lorenzo – a two-time MotoGP Champion – and Rossi – a seven-time MotoGP Champion – were using motorcycles without any livery.
Yamaha says the majority of Indonesia’s 5,000 Yamaha showrooms will be attending the Rossi & Lorenzo presentation in Jakarta, as the Japanese brand looks to win back the MotoGP title last won by Lorenzo in 2012.
Lorenzo joined Yamaha Factory Racing in 2008, and finished fourth overall that year behind teammate Rossi. He then finished second or better every year, including his two titles (2010, 2012).
Following two sour years with Ducati, Rossi returned to Yamaha ahead of the 2013 MotoGP Championship. The nine-time World Champion has much success with Yamaha, winning four premier-class titles with the manufacturer (2004, 2005, 2008, 2009). The 2014 MotoGP Championship will also be Rossi’s ninth season piloting a Yamaha motorcycle in World Championship racing.
