2012-2013 Zero Motorcycle Recall

Zero Motorcycles has recalled 667 of its DS, FX, S and XU model-year 2012-2013 motorcycles due to possible shut-off issues.

The effected motorcycles have controller firmware that, as a result of certain system faults, may shut off power to the motor. A sudden loss of power to the motor may increase the risk of a crash, Zero Motorcycles says.

The following models are recalled:

  • 2012-2013 Zero DS
  • 2013 Zero FX
  • 2012-2013 Zero S
  • 2012-2013 Zero XU

Zero will notify owners, and dealers will update the controller firmware, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in mid-January 2014. Owners may contact Zero at 1-888-786-9376.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to
